In light of the many global crises in recent years, safe pathways to refugee protection have become increasingly important. In this context, resettlement and humanitarian admission programs are a key instrument to enable vulnerable refugees to live in safety and dignity as well as a vital signal of responsibility sharing and solidarity towards countries of first refuge. At the same time, active refugee admission is currently facing particular challenges due to various developments.

In order to discuss these developments and challenges with you, we would like to cordially invite you to this year's Resettlement Conference, which will take place in person at the premises of the Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung in Berlin on November 23 and 24, 2023.

This year, the BAMF as the German National Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) is cooperating with UNHCR, Caritas and Diakonie in organizing the Resettlement Conference. At the conference, we want to discuss a variety of topics ranging from expectation management to complementary pathways and integration processes. In addition to resettlement in Germany, we want to take a closer look on the European perspective on resettlement with representatives of the state administration, politics, academia, and civil society.

Please note that the first day of the event will highlight national developments and challenges in the field of resettlement in Germany and will be held in German. The second day of the event, on the other hand, will be held exclusively in English, as we will discuss European developments with international guests. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to provide translation during the event, but participants have the option to register for either or both days, as preferred.
