Asylum – and afterwards? The life situation of persons entitled to asylum and recognised refugees in Germany ,
The BAMF Study on Refugees 2014 addresses persons entitled to asylum (pursuant to Article 16a of the German Basic Law) and recognised refugees (pursuant to Section 3 subsection 1 of the German Asylum Act) from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Iran, Sri Lanka and Syria. A large part of asylum seekers who arrived in Germany in the past ten years came from these six countries of origin. The respondents are aged between 18 and 69, and received their status in the asylum procedure between 2008 and 2012.
The survey focuses on the group of refugees who have prospects to remain permanently and who have already been in Germany for several years. This group is now rather large, and continues to grow. The first systematic record that was made of their life situation with the BAMF Study on Refugees 2014 permits important conclusions to be drawn for current and future integration policy.
