The nationwide survey for the study entitled "Muslim life in Germany 2020" was conducted by Kantar GmbH on behalf of the BAMF Research Centre. The methodology report documents the sampling, preparation, procedure and results of the fieldwork. In addition, it discusses the data validation and processing as well as the weighting of the data.

The survey was conducted between July 2019 and March 2020. Based on a standardised questionnaire, more than 4,500 people with a migration background from 23 predominantly Muslim countries of origin were interviewed in person and orally. Countries in the Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe were included, as was Turkey. Almost 600 people with no migration background were also interviewed as a comparison group.
