The EUAA helps in international protection to harmonise the asylum systems and practice of all EU+ Member States. The Agency works towards this ultimate aim by offering the EU Member States practical, legal, technical, advisory and operational assistance in many formats (e.g. analysis reports, expert networks, databases, expert deployments and training activities).

EUAA national contact point

In order to carry out its tasks, the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) relies on regular communication at specialist level between the EU Member States, as well as on their active participation in the implementation of a multinational asylum system. Each Member State was called on to nominate at least one national contact point for this purpose.

Germany’s EUAA national contact point for asylum was set up at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The Federal Länder (since September 2021: Hesse) have taken on the task of the national contact point for the EUAA when it comes to "reception".
