The data available on the integration of immigrants in Germany are highly heterogeneous and are scattered over a wide variety of institutions. There is a lack of networking and coordination between the various data sources; it is frequently difficult to find information on a specific topic.

In view of this situation, the Integration Report offers a compact overview of the integration data available in Germany for a wide variety of fields. Similar to the Migration Report, which is already being drawn up by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, it is to supply a broad range of users from the political arena, the administration, associations, industry and academia with fundamental information on the topic of integration.

In doing so, the information available from various data sources (official statistics and empirical social research) is to be brought together, also using surveys carried out by the Federal Office itself, such as the "Repräsentativuntersuchung ausgewählte Migrantengruppen in Deutschland" (Representative survey of selected groups of migrants in Germany).

Statements on the data situation in individual fields

In addition to the specific figures, the Integration Report contains statements on the data situation in the individual fields, as well as explaining the methods (how the data presented were created and their informative value, information for interpretation). This provides users with a rapid overview, and they are pointed towards "further reading" material by appropriate information on literature. A total of ten Working Papers was released on a variety of fields of integration between 2008 and 2012. Currently no further publications are planned.
