Extract from the series "Integration report", part 7

The working paper "Interethnic contacts, friendships, partnerships and marriages of migrants in Germany" is the seventh part of the "Integrationsreport" series. It focuses on three aspects of social integration: Everyday contacts, acquaintances, and friendships, as well as marriages, respectively partnerships between people with and without migration background.

Manifold contacts between people with and without migration background

The data on hand shows that social integration is characterized by various and intensive everyday contacts, as well as friendships and relationships between population with and without migration background. However, the indicators partnerships and marriages show stronger ethnic and religious patterns, still.
Every area displays various indicators. The analysis is based on foreign citizenship or migration background, depending on available data. There is no administrative data in the area of interethnic contacts and friendships; hence socioscientific survey data has been used.

Especially the micro census, the representative survey "Selected groups of migrants in Germany" (RAM), the socio-economic panel (SOEP), the marriage statistics, the visa statistics of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as statistics regarding family unification in the Central Register of Foreigners have been used as data sources.
