Migration Report 2007 , Date: 2008.12.03, format: Migration report, area: Authority

On 3 December 2008, the Federal Cabinet adopted the Migration Report 2007 drafted by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The report, which is drafted once per year at the request of the Federal Parliament, provides an overview of migration in Germany on the basis of the available data.

The Federal Government's Migration Report provides up-to-date, comprehensive and sufficiently-detailed statistical data on migration to form the basis for decision-making by political decision-makers and in the administration in the field of migration policy, as well as providing information for the public on developments in migration.

In addition to the general migration data on Germany and the detailed depiction of the various types of migration, the Migration Report contains a European comparison of migration (in- and out-flows) and of asylum immigration. The Report additionally deals with the phenomenon of illegal migration and with the emigration of Germans and foreigners, and provides information on the structure of the foreign population, as well as of the population with a migration background. Information is provided here in the respective chapters on the individual migration statistics and the boundaries of their authoritativeness.
