The 2021 Annual Report of the Research Centre ,

The Annual Report provides an overview of the main areas of work of the Migration, Integration and Asylum Research Centre in 2021. It presents both ongoing and completed research projects as well as the publications that have been released.
A highlight in 2021 was the presentation of the results of the study "Muslim Life in Germany 2020 (MLD 2020)" commissioned by the German Islam Conference. A new extrapolation of the number of Muslims in Germany was also presented on this occasion.
Equally important is the publication of the first evaluation report entitled "Migration. Family. Social Relationships" from the TransFAR project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Population Research.
The Research Centre's new online event format called "BAMF Research in Dialogue" promotes an exchange with the public and presents the Centre's range of information on migration, integration and asylum.
The research project "Evaluation of the integration courses (EvIk)" should also be highlighted. This project has been commissioned by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community (BMI) since 2018 and uses quantitative and qualitative methods to research the functioning of the integration courses, with a particular focus on the group of participants who are refugees. There were three publications on this topic in 2021.
Also of great importance is the Migration Report, which is to be submitted on an annual basis and provides a comprehensive overview of annual developments in immigration and emigration, taking all immigrant groups into account. An interactive internet service for the 2020 Migration Report enables users to search for specific topics and to work with the report data themselves.
Finally, it was possible to open the BAMF's Research Data Centre in the summer of 2021, after several years of preparation. The Centre carries out the statutory mandate to provide data from the fields of migration and integration to researchers.
