Deradicalisation and disengagement work , Date: 2021.08.27, format: report, area: Authority , Companion guide to the skill-building course on counselling, including for the social environment, concerning the phenomenon of Islamist-motivated extremism

The book is designed as a companion guide to the skill-building course on counselling, including for the social environment, concerning the phenomenon of Islamist-motivated extremism. It contains brief articles on a variety of topics related to practical counselling work, as well as to relevant bodies of knowledge on religiously-motivated extremism and radicalisation.

This volume has been produced with the aim of further professionalising the counselling, including for the social environment, as well as ensuring quality assurance in deradicalisation work. In addition to this companion guide, the BAMF's Research Centre has developed a concept for a skill-building course together with an external partner, namely Candid Foundation gGmbH, for counsellors who are working or would like to work in the field of deradicalisation.

The companion guide is distinguished by the fact that both academics and practitioners have contributed texts. This has resulted in a practical book that provides a comprehensive insight into deradicalisation and disengagement work.

It thus also forms a basis for the implementation of the skill-building course, which started in June 2021 and is run by the Pestalozzi gGmbH Association. The course is offered in a blended learning format. It is free of charge and designed as an in-service training course, extending over a period of two semesters and comprising 120 hours.
