Voluntary return and reintegration , Date: 2024.01.11, format: Report, area: Return

Germany is a main destination country for immigration to Europe. However, in the area of refugee migration in particular, it is clear that the individual expectations associated with residency and applying for asylum in Germany are in many cases not accompanied by actual prospects of residence. This applies, for example, to people who do not meet the requirements for asylum protection. In this context, taking a holistic approach to migration also means supporting people who cannot or do not wish to stay in Germany with voluntary return and reintegration through individually tailored services in their country of origin. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees plays a key role in this by accompanying the entire return process.
